(Matthéüs 13:24-30)

“BRING DIE KORING BYMEKAAR IN MY SKUUR:”

24. Hy het ‘n ander gelykenis aan hulle voorgehou met die woorde: “God se Konings-heerskappy kan vergelyk word met ‘n man wat goeie saad op sy land saai.

25. Maar een nag, terwyl die mense geslaap het, het sy vyand gekom en onkruid tussen die koring gesaai, en verdwyn.

26. “Toe die groen koring opskiet en in die aar begin kom, verskyn terselfdertyd ook die onkruid.

27. “Die slawe van die boer kom toe en sê vir hom: ‘U het tog goeie saad op u land gesaai. Waar kom die onkruid dan vandaan?’

28. “‘Dis ‘n vyand se werk’, het hy uitgeroep. ‘Moet ons die onkruid gaan uittrek?’ Vra sy slawe hom toe.

29. “Maar hy antwoord: ‘Nee, dalk trek julle die koring saam uit wanneer julle die onkruid in bondels uittrek.

30. “‘Laat albei saam groei tot oestyd. Dan sal ek vir die mense wat oes, sê: ‘Maak eers die onkruid bymekaar. Bind dit dan in bondels vas, om verbrand te word. Maar bring die koring bymekaar in my skuur.’”

“GATHER THE WHEAT INTO MY BARN:”

24. He put another parable before them, saying: “The Kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field,

25. “but while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away.

26. “So when the plants came up, and bore grain, then the weeds appeared also.

27. “And the servants of the master of the house came and said to him: ‘Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have weeds?

28. “He said to them: ‘An enemy has done this.’ So the servants asked him: ‘Then do you want us to go and gather them?’

29. “But he said: ‘No, lest in gathering the weeds you root up the wheat along with them.

30. “‘Let both grow together until the harvest. And at harvest time I will tell the reapers: ‘Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.’”

WAT DIE GELYKENIS VAN DIE SAAIER BETEKEN:

18. “Luister julle nou wat die gelykenis van die saaier beteken:

19. “Hulle by wie die saad op die voetpad gesaai is, is elkeen wat die boodskap van God se Konings-heerskappy hoor, maar dit nie begryp nie. Die bose kom en roof wat in hulle harte gesaai is.

20. “Hulle by wie op klipperige grond gesaai is, is die mense wat die boodskap hoor en dit met blydskap dadelik aanneem.

21. “Maar hulle wortels gaan nie diep nie en hulle hou net vir ‘n rukkie. Sodra daar swaarkry of vervolging ter wille van die Boodskap kom, struikel hulle in hulle geloof.

22. “Daardie mense by wie tussen die dorings gesaai is, is hulle wat die Boodskap hoor, maar die bekommernis van hierdie lewe en die verleidelikheid van die rykdom verstik die boodskap, en dit bly sonder vrug.

23. “Hulle by wie op die goeie grond gesaai is, is diè wat die boodskap hoor en verstaan. Hulle dra vrug en bring ‘n oorvloedige oes voort: 100 of 60 of 30 maal soveel as wat oorspronklik gesaai is.”

WHAT THE PARABLE OF THE SOWER MEANS:

18. “Hear then the parable of the sower:

19. “When anyone hears the Word of the Kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is what was sown along the path.

20. “As for what was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who hears the Word and immediately receives it with joy.

21. “Yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while, and when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the Word, immediately he falls away.

22. “As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the Word, but the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the Word, and it proves unfruitful.

23. “As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the Word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.”

“FOR TO THE ONE WHO HAS, MORE WILL BE GIVEN:”

10. Then His disciples came and said to Him: ‘Why do You speak to them in parables?’

11. And He answered them: “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the Kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.

12. “For to the one who has, more will be given, and he will have an abundance, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.

13. “This is why I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.

14. “Indeed in their case the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled that says: ‘+You will indeed hear but never understand, and you will indeed see but never perceive.

15. ‘+For this people’s heart has grown dull, and with their ears they can barely hear, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and turn that a I may heal them.’+

16. “But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears, for they hear.

17. “For truly I say to you: Many Prophets and Righteous people longed to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.”

“VIR HULLE WAT ALREEDS VERSTAAN, SAL NOG MEER GEGEE WORD:”

10. Sy dissipels kom toe na Hom toe en sê: ‘Waarom gebruik U altyd sulke diepsinnige gelykenisse as U met die mense praat?’

11. Hy antwoord hulle toe: “Omdat julle bevoorreg word om die geheime van God se Konings-heerskappy te verstaan. Hůlle word nie so bevoorreg nie.

12. “Hulle wat reeds verstaan, vir hulle sal nog meer gegee word, en hulle sal oorvloedige kennis hê. Maar hulle wat nie insig het nie, van hulle sal ook nog die bietjie weggeneem word wat hulle wel verstaan.

13. “Ek praat met hulle by wyse van gelykenisse, want hulle kyk, en tog sien hulle nie. En hulle hoor, maar tog luister en verstaan hulle nie.

14. “Die profesie van Jesaja word in hulle geval bewaarheid: ‘+Julle sal My woorde hoor, en tog nie verstaan nie. Julle sal sien wat Ek doen, en tog nie werklik begryp nie.

15. ‘+Ja die hart van hierdie volk het verhard, en hulle hoor swaar met hulle ore; hulle het hulle oë toegemaak sodat hulle nie dalk met hulle oë sien en met hulle ore hoor, en met hulle hart begryp, en tot bekering kom, en Ek hulle gesond maak nie.’+

16. “Maar julle – gelukkig is julle oë omdat hulle sien, julle ore, omdat hulle hoor.

17. “Dit verseker Ek julle: Baie Profete en Godvresende mense het begeer om te sien en hoor wat julle sien en hoor, maar dit was hulle nie beskore nie.”

(Matthéüs 13:1-9)

HY HET VIR HULLE BAIE GELYKENISSE VERTEL:

1. Later daardie dag het Jesus uit die huis gegaan en langs die see gaan sit.

2. ‘n Groot hoeveelheid mense het rondom Hom saamgedrom. Gevolglik was Hy verplig om in ‘n skuit te klim en daarin te gaan sit om die mense te onderrig. Hulle het almal op die strand bly staan om na Hom te luister.

3. Hy het vir hulle baie gelykenisse vertel, soos die volgende een: “‘n Boer het eendag na sy lande toe gegaan om te saai.

4. “In die saai-proses het party van die saad op ‘n voetpaadjie geval, en die voëls het dit kom oppik.

5. “‘n Ander deel het weer op klipperige aarde sonder enige diepte geval. As gevolg van die vlak grond het dit vinnig opgeskiet.

6. Maar toe die son warm begin bak, het dit verlep, en omdat dit nie diep wortel geskiet het nie, het dit heeltemal verdroog.

7. “Nog ‘n deel het tussen dorings geval. Toe die dorings opkom, het dit die koring verstik.

8. “Nog ander saad het op goeie grond geval. Dit het ‘n oes voortgebring, party honderd maal, party sestig maal, en party dertig maal soveel as wat oorspronklik gesaai is.

9. “Elkeen wat kan hoor, moet goed luister na wat Ek sê.”

1. The same day Jesus went out of the house, and sat beside the sea.

2. And great crowds gathered about Him, so that He got into a boat and sat down. The whole crowd stood on the beach, to listen to Him.

3. And He told them many things in parables, saying: “A sower went out to sow.

4. “And as he sowed, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them.

5. “Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil,

6. “but when the sun rose they were scorched. And since they had no root, they withered away.

7. “Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them.

8. “Other seeds fell on good soil and produced grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

9. “He who has ears, let him hear.”

(Matthéüs 12:41-50)

“IEMAND BAIE BELANGRIKER AS JONA IS HIER:”

41. “Die mense van Nineve sal op die oordeelsdag saam met vandag se mense opstaan en teen hulle getuig. Hulle het tog op grond van Jona se prediking tot inkeer gekom. Iemand baie belangriker as Jona is nou hier by julle, en tog kom julle nie tot inkeer nie.

42. “Die koningin van Skeba sal op die oordeelsdag saam met die mense van vandag opstaan en teen hulle getuig. Sy het immers van ‘n baie ver land gekom om na die wysheid van Salomo te luister. Iemand baie belangriker as Salomo is nou hier by julle, en tog weier julle om na Hom te luister en kom julle nie tot inkeer nie.

43. “Wanneer ‘n onrein gees uit ‘n mens gaan, swerf hy deur dor plekke op soek na ‘n rusplek, maar kry dit nie.

44. “Dan sê hy: ‘Ek sal teruggaan na my vorige blyplek.’ Wanneer hy gaan, kry hy dit onbewoon, uitgevee en netjies aan die kant.

45. “Daarna gaan neem hy sewe ander geeste, slegter as hyself, saam met hom en trek in daardie persoon in. Uitendelik sal dit met daardie mens baie slegter gaan as aan die begin. Dieselfde sal gebeur met die slegte mense van vandag.”

46. Jesus was nog besig om met die skare te praat, toe staan Sy ma en Sy broers buitekant. Hulle wou met Hom kom praat.

47. Iemand sê toe vir Jesus: ‘U ma en broers staan hier buite en hulle wil met U praat.’

48. Hy antwoord die een wat met Hom kom praat het: “Weet julle wie is My ma en broers?”

49. Daarop wys Hy na Sy dissipels en sê: “Daar is My ma en My broers.

50. “Elkeen wat aan die wil van My hemelse Vader gehoorsaam is, is My eintlike gesinslede.”

“BEHOLD, SOMETHING GREATER THAN JONAH IS HERE:”

41. “The men of Nineveh will rise up at the judgement with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, something greater than Jonah is here.

42. “The queen of the South will rise up at the judgement, with this generation and condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, something Greater than Solomon is here.

43. “When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, but finds none.

44. “Then it says: ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when it comes, it finds the house empty, swept, and put in order.

45. “Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits, more evil than itself, and they entered and dwelt there, and the last state of that person is worse than the first. So also will it be with this evil generation.”

46. While He was still speaking to the people, behold, His mother and His brothers stood outside,

47. asking to speak to Him.

48. But He replied to the man who told Him: “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?”

49. And stretching out His hand toward His disciples, He said: “Here are My mother and My brothers!

50. “For whoever does the Will of My Father in heaven, is My brother and sister and mother.”
