(Matthéüs 18:15-22)

“WAT JULLE OOKAL OP AARDE BIND, SAL IN DIE HEMEL GEBONDE WEES;”

15. “As een van jou mede- gelowiges iets verkeerds teen jou gedoen het, gaan wys hom daarop. Maar hou dit tussen julle twee. As hy sy fout insien en erken, het jy hom teruggewen.

16. Maar as jy nie daarin slaag nie, neem nog een of twee saam met jou. So sal daar twee of drie getuies wees om te bevestig wat gesê word.

17. “Maar as hy nog steeds weier om te luister, moet jy dit aan die Gemeente gaan meedeel. As hy egter ook weier om na die Gemeente te luister, moet hy vir jou wees soos ‘n ongelowige of ‘n tollenaar.

18. “Dit verseker Ek julle: Watter dinge julle ookal op aarde bind, sal in die hemel gebind wees. En watter dinge julle ook op die aarde losmaak, sal in die hemel losgemaak wees.

19. “Boonop verseker Ek julle: as twee van julle hier op aarde saamstem oor enigiets wat julle vir God wil vra, sal My hemelse Vader dit vir julle doen.

20. “Waar twee of drie bymekaar is, is Ek immers ook saam met hulle daar.”

21. Daarop vra Petrus Hom: ‘Here, hoeveel maal moet Ek ‘n mede-gelowige vergewe wat iets verkeerds teen my gedoen het? Selfs tot sewe maal toe?’

22. “Nee,” verseker Jesus hom, “nie tot sewe maal toe nie, maar tot sewentig maal sewe toe!”

“WHATEVER YOU BIND ON EARTH, SHALL BE BOUND IN HEAVEN:”

15. “If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.

16. “But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses.

17. “If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the Church. And if he refuses to listen even to the Church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a Tax collector.

18. “Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth, shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you lose on earth, shall be loosed in heaven.

19. “Again I say to you if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.

20. “For where two or three are gathered in My Name there I Am among them.”

21. Then Peter came up and said: ‘Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?’

22. Jesus answered: “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times seven.

(Matthéüs 18:7-14)

“DIE ENGELE WAT OOR HULLE WAAK, VERKEER ELKE OOMBLIK IN DIE TEENWOORDIGHEID VAN MY VADER:”

7. “Dié wat ander tot ‘n val bring, bring ellende in die wêreld! Daar sal noodwendig sulke mense wees, maar God sal die mens straf wat iemand anders tot ‘n val bring.

8. “Daarom, as jou hand of jou voet jou laat sondig, kap dit af en gooi dit van jou af weg. Dit is vir jou beter om vermink of kreupel te lewe, as om met altwee jou hande, en altwee jou voete, in die vuur gegooi te word, wat nooit geblus sal word nie.

9. “En as jou oog jou laat sonde doen, pluk dit uit en gooi dit weg. Dit is beter om half-blind in die hemel in te gaan, as om met twee oë en al in die hel se vuur gegooi te word.

10. “Maak seker dat julle nie op een van hierdie kleinstes neersien nie.

11. “Besef julle dat die engele in die hemel wat oor hulle waak, elke oomblik in die teenwoordigheid van hulle hemelse Vader verkeer?

12. “As iemand een honderd skape het, en een van hulle raak weg, wat dink julle sal hy doen? Sal hy nie die nege-en-negentig net daar tussen die rantjies los, en die wegloop een gaan soek nie?

13. “En as hy hom wel kry, wil Ek julle verseker hy sal blyer wees oor daardie een, as oor die nege-en-negentig wat nie weggeraak het nie.

14. “Net so wil julle Vader in die hemel nie hê dat een van hierdie kleinstes verlore gaan nie.”

“THEIR ANGELS SEE THE FACE OF MY FATHER IN HEAVEN:”

7. “Woe to the world for temptations to sin! For it is necessary that temptations come, but woe to the one by whom the temptation comes!

8. “And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life crippled or lame, than with two hands and two feet, to be thrown into the eternal fire.

9. “And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than with two eyes, than to be thrown into the hell of fire.

10. “See that you do not despise one of these little ones.

11. “For I tell you that in heaven their angels see the face of My Father Who is in heaven.

12. “What do you think: If a man has one hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray?

13. “And if he finds it, truly, I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray.

14. “So it is not the Will of My Father Who is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.”

(Matthéüs 17:24-27)

“WIE SAL DIE BELANGRIKSTE WEES IN GOD SE KONINKRYK?”

24. By hulle aankoms in Kapernaum, het die beamptes wat die tempel belasting invorder, vir Petrus genader met die woorde: ‘Betaal julle Leermeester dan nie die tempel belasting nie?’

25. Hy antwoord toe; ‘Natuurlik betaal Hy dit!’ Toe hy tuis kam om met Jesus daaroor te praat, spring Jesus hom voor en vra: “Petrus, hoe sou jy sê, van wie vorder die konings van hierdie wêreld tolgeld en belasting in? Van hulle eie mense of van buitelanders wat hulle verslaan het?

26. Toe hy antwoord: ‘Van die buitelanders?’ Sê Jesus vir hom: “Dan is hulle eie mense mos vrygestel!

27. “Maar om hulle liewer nie aanstoot te gee nie – gaan af see toe en gooi jou lyn in. Die eerste vis wat jy uittrek, maak sy bek oop en jy sal ‘n muntstuk daarin kry. Vat dit en gaan betaal ons altwee se belasting daarmee.”

(Matthěüs 18:1-6)

1. In daardie tyd het die dissipels na Jesus toe gekom met die vraag: ‘Wie van ons sal die belangrikste wees in God se Koninkryk?’

2. Jesus roep toe ‘n klein kindjie nader en laat hom tussen hulle staan.

3. Toe sê Hy; “As julle nie met ander oë na die lewe begin kyk, en soos die kindertjies word nie, sal julle beslis nie in die Koninkryk van God ingaan nie.

4. “Daarom is elkeen wat so nederig soos hierdie kindjie word, die belangrikste in God se Koninkryk.

5. “En elkeen wat ‘n kindjie soos hierdie een ter wille van My verwelkom, verwelkom My.

6. “Maar elkeen wat een van hierdie kleinstes wat in My glo, tot ‘n val bring, vir hom sal dit beter wees om met ‘n meulsteen om sy nek, in die see te verdrink.”

“WHO IS THE GREATEST IN THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN?”

24. When they came to Capernaum, the collectors of the two drachma tax went up to Peter ànd said: ‘Does your Teacher not pay the tax?’

25. Peter answered: ‘Yes,’ and when he came into the house, Jesus spoke to him first, saying: “What do you think Simon? From who do the kings of the earth take toll or tax? From their sons or from others?”

26. And when he said: ‘From others,’ Jesus said to him: “Then the sons are free!

27. “However, not to give offense to them, go to the sea and cast a hook, and take the first fish that comes up, and when you open its mouth, you will find a shekel. Take that and give it to them, for Me and for yourself.”

Matthew 18:1-6)

1. At that time the disciples came to Jesus saying: “Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven?’

2. And calling to Him a child, He put him in the midst of them

3. and said: “Truly I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the Kingdom of heaven.

4. “Whoever humbles himself like this child, is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.

5. “Whoever receives one such child in My Name, received Me,

6. “but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me, to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck, and be drowned in the depth of the sea.”

(Matthéüs 17.17-23)

“NIKS SAL VIR JULLE ONMOONTLIK WEES NIE:”

17. Jesus se reaksie was: “O julle ongelowige èn ontaarde mense! Hoe lank sal Ek dit nog by julle uithou? Bring die seun hier.”

18. Daarop het Jesus die bose gees skerp aangespreek, en dit het hom verlaat. Onmiddellik was die kind gesond.

19. Agterna het die dissipels Jesus privaat gevra: ‘Waarom kon ons nie die duiwel uitdryf nie?’

20. “Julle geloof was nie sterk genoeg nie,” was Jesus se antwoord.

21. “Dit verseker Ek julle, as julle geloof selfs so klein soos ‘n mostert-saadjie was, sou julle vir hierdie berg sê: ‘Skuif soontoe,’ en hy sal dit doen. Ja, niks sal vir julle onmoontlik wees nie.”

22. Weer terug in Galilea, het Jesus vir hulle gesê: “God het bepaal dat die Seun van die mens oorgegee moet word in die hande van die mense.

23. “Hulle sal Hom doodmaak, maar God sal Hom op die derde dag weer opwek.” Die dissipels was baie geskok om dit te hoor.

“NOTHING WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR YOU:”

17. And Jesus answered: “O faithless and twisted generation, how long will I be with you? How long Am I to bear with you? Bring him hear to Me.”

18. And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him, and the boy was healed instantly.

19. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said: ‘Why could we not cast it out?’

20. He answered them: “Because of your little faith. For truly I say to you, if you had faith like a grain of mustard seed,

21. “you will say to this mountain: ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”

22. As they were gathering in Galilee, Jesus said to them: “The Son of man is about to be delivered into the hands of men,

23. “And they will kill Him, and He Will be raised on the third day,” And they were greatly distressed.

(Matthéüs 17:9-16)

“EK VERSEKER JULLE, ELIA HET ALREEDS GEKOM:”

9. Terwyl hulle van die berg afklim, het Jesus hulle beveel: “Julle moet vir niemand vertel wat julle gesien het nie, totdat Ek, die Seun van die mens, uit die dood opgewek word.”

10. Sy dissipels vra Hom toe, ‘Hoe sê die skrifkenners dan dat Elia eers moet kom, voordat die Messias kom?’

11. Waarop Jesus antwoord: “Elia kom inderdaad eers om alles in orde te bring.

12. “Maar Ek verseker julle: hy het al klaar gekom, tog het hulle hom nie herken nie, maar baie sleg behandel. Net so, moet Ek, die Seun van die mens, ook onder hulle ly.”

13. Toe het die dissipels verstaan dat Hy met hulle oor Johannes die Doper gepraat het.

14. Toe hulle by die skare aan die voet van die berg kom, nader iemand vir Jesus en val voor Hom neer.

15. Hy smeek toe: ‘Here, ontferm U oor my seun! Hy kry epileptiese aanvalle, en hy ly verskriklik. Baie maal val hy in die vuur of in die water.

16. ‘Ek het hom na U dissipels toe gebring, maar hulle kon hom nie gesond maak nie.’

“I TELL YOU THAT ELIJAH HAS ALREADY COME:”

9. As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them: “Tell no one the vision, until the Son of man is raised from the dead.”

10. And the disciples asked Him: ‘Then why do the scribes say that first Elijah must come?’

11. He answered them: “Elijah does come, and he will restore all things.

12. “But I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they pleased. So also the Son of man will certainly suffer at their hands.”

13. Then the disciples understood that He was speaking to them of John the Baptist.

14. And when they came to the crowd, a man came up to Him, and kneeling before Him,

15. said: ‘Lord, Have mercy on my son, for he has seizures and he suffers terribly. For often he falls into the fire, and often into the water.

16. ‘And I brought him to Your disciples, and they could not heal him.’

PÊREL VIR ELKE DAG:

(Matthéüs 17:1-8)

“STAAN MAAR OP, MOENIE BANG WEES NIE:”

1. Ses dae later neem Jesus vir Petrus en Jakobus en sy broer Johannes saam met Hom, en vat hulle teen ‘n hoë berg uit, waar hulle alleen was.

2. En daar, terwyl hulle na Jesus kyk, het Sy voorkoms verander. Sy gesig het begin straal soos die son, en Sy klere het skitterwit geword.

3. En wonderbaarlik! Toe verskyn Moses en Elia voor hulle, en voer gesprek met Jesus.

4. Petrus sê toe vir Jesus: ‘Here, dis wonderlik om hier te wees! As U wil, sal ek hier drie skuilings oprig: Vir U een, vir Moses een, en een vir Elia.’

5. Maar terwyl hy nog praat, oordek ‘n helderglansende wolk hulle, en daar kom ‘n stem uit die wolk wat sê: “Hy is My geliefde Seun. Hy is ‘n Kind so na My hart. Doen wat Hy vir julle sê.”

6. Toe hulle dit hoor, het die dissipels plat op die grond neergeval, want hulle het groot geskrik.

7. Daarop kom Jesus na hulle toe, en sit Sy hand gerusstellend op hulle en sê: “Staan maar op. Moenie bang wees nie.”

8. Toe hulle opkyk, sien hulle niemand anders meer daar nie, net vir Jesus alleen.

“RISE, AND HAVE NO FEAR:”

1. And after six days Jesus took with Him, Peter and James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves.

2. And He was transfigured before them, and His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became white as light.

3. And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with Him.

4. And Peter said to Jesus: ‘Lord, it is good that we are here. If You wish, I will make three tents here, one for You and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.’

5. He was still speaking, when behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them. And a voice from the cloud said: “This is My beloved Son, with Whom I Am well pleased; listen to Him.”

6. When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces, and were terrified.

7. But Jesus came and touched them, saying: “Rise, and have no fear.”

8. And when they lifted up their eyes, they saw no one, but Jesus only.
