DIÉ WAT WIL ROEM, MOET IN DIE HERE ROEM:

“Dink maar net aan wat julle was toe julle geroep is. Volgens die opvatting van mense was daar nie baie geleerdes of baie invloedrykes of baie mense van aansien onder julle nie.
“En tog, wat vir die wêreld onsin is, het God uitgekies om die geleerdes te beskaam, en wat vir die wêreld swak is, het God uitgekies om die sterkes te beskaam,
“en wat vir die wêreld sonder aansien of betekenis is, ja, wat niks is nie, het God uitgekies om wat iets is, tot niet te maak.
“Voor God het geen mens dus iets om op te roem nie.
“Aan God is dit te danke dat julle met Christus Jesus verenig is. Hy het vir ons geword die WYSHEID wat van God kom: die vryspraak, die heiliging en die verlossing.
“Daarom, soos daar geskrywe staan: ‘+Dié wat wil roem, moet in die Here roem.”

(1 Korinthiërs 2:1-5)

“Wat my betref broers, toe ek na julle toe gekom het om die geheimnisvolle waarheid van God aan julle te verkondig, het ek nie met hoë woorde of groot geleerdheid gekom nie.
“Ek het my voorgeneem om met julle oor niks anders te praat nie, as oor Jesus as die Christus, en wel oor Hom as die gekruisigde.
“Bewus van my swakheid, en met groot angs en huiwering, het ek na julle toe gekom.
“Die boodskap wat ek verkondig, het julle oortuig, nie deur geleerdheid of welsprekendheid nie, maar deur die KRAGTIGE WERKING VAN DIE GEES.
“Dus is julle geloof nie op die wysheid van mense gegrond nie, maar op die KRAG VAN GOD.”

For consider your calling brothers. Not many of you were wise according to the worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth.
“But God chose what is foolish in the world, to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world, to shame the strong.
“God chose what was low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are,
“so that no human being might boast in the presence of God.
“And because of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption,
“so that, as it is written: ‘+Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.’+

(1 Corinthians 2:1-5)

“And I, when I came to you brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech and wisdom.
“For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.
“And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling,
“and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the SPIRIT OF POWER.
“so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men, but in the POWER OF GOD.”

CHRISTUS IS DIE KRAG EN DIE WYSHEID VAN GOD:

“Die boodskap van die kruis van Christus, is wel onsin vir dié wat verlore gaan, maar vir ons wat gered word, is dit die KRAG van God.
“Daar staan tog geskrywe: ‘+Die wysheid van die wyses sal ek vernietig, en die geleerdheid van die geleerdes sal Ek tot niet maak.
“Waar is die wysgeer van hierdie wêreld nou? Waar die skrifgeleerde? Waar die slim woordvoerder? Het God nie die wysheid van die wêreld tot onsin gemaak nie?
“Dit was die bedoeling van God in Sy wysheid dat die wêreld nie deur geleerdheid tot kennis van God sou kom nie. Daarom het God in Sy goedheid besluit om deur die prediking wat vir die wêreld onsin is, dié te red wat GLO.
“Die Jode vra wondertekens, en die Grieke soek wysheid,
“maar ons verkondig Christus wat gekruisig is. Vir die Jode is dit ‘n aanstoot en vir die ander is dit onsin,
“maar vir dié wat deur God geroep is, Jode sowel as Grieke, is Christus die KRAG van God en die WYSHEID van God.
“Wat vir die wêreld die onsin van God is, is groter wysheid as die wysheid van mense, en wat vir die wêreld die swakheid van God is, is groter krag as die krag van mense.”

CHRIST IS THE POWER AND WISDOM. OF GOD:

“For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is the POWER of God.
“For it is written: ‘+I Will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I Will thwart.’+
“Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?
“For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who BELIEVE.
“For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom,
“but we preach Christ crucified, a Stumbling Block to Jews, and folly to Gentiles,
“but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ, the POWER of God and the WISDOM of God.
“For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.”

“CHRISTUS HET MY NIE GESTUUR OM TE DOOP NIE, MAAR OM DIE EVANGELIE TE VERKONDIG:”

“Ek sê dit my broers, omdat Chloë se mense my vertel het dat daar onenigheid onder julle is.
“Daarmee bedoel ek dat een sê: ‘Ek is vir Paulus,’ een: ‘Ek is vir Apollos,’ een: ‘Ek is vir Sefas,’ en een: ‘Ek is vir Christus.’
“Is Christus dan in stukke verdeel? Is Paulus miskien vir julle gekruisig, of is julle in die naam van Paulus gedoop?
“Ek dank God dat ek niemand van julle gedoop het nie, behalwe Krispus en Gaius.
“Niemand kan dus sê dat julle in my naam gedoop is nie.
“Nee, ek het ook nog die huisgesin van Stefanas gedoop, maar verder weet ek nie of ek nog iemand gedoop het nie.
“Christus het my immers nie gestuur om te doop nie, maar om die Evangelie te verkondig, en dit nie met woorde van menslike wysheid nie, want dan sou die kruis van Christus sy krag verloor.”

“CHRIST DID NOT SEND ME TO BAPTIZE, BUT TO PREACH THE GOSPEL:”

“For it has been reported to me by Chloe’s people that there is quarreling among you my brothers.
“What I mean is that each one of you says: ‘I follow Paul’ or ‘I follow Apollos’ or ‘I follow Simon Peter’ or ‘I follow Christ.’
“Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?
“I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius,
“so that no one may say that you were baptized in my name.
“(I did also baptize the household of Stephanas. Beyond that, I do not know whether I baptized anyone else.)
“For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the Gospel, and not with words of eloquent wisdom, lest the Cross of Christ be emptied of its power.”

“Paulus, ‘n geroepe apostel van Jesus Christus deur die Wil van God, en die broer Sósthenes,
“aan die Gemeente van God wat in Korinthe is, aan die geheiligdes in Christus Jesus, die geroepe heiliges, saam met almal wat die Naam van onse Here Jesus Christus in elke plek aanroep, hulle Here, sowel as onse Here.
“Genade vir julle, en vrede van God onse Vader en die Here Jesus Christus!
“Ek dank my God altyd oor julle, vir die GENADE van God wat aan julle in Christus Jesus gegee is,
“dat julle in alle opsigte in Hom rykgemaak is, in elke Woord en alle kennis;
“soos die getuienis aangaande Christus bevestig is onder julle,
“sodat julle in geen enkele genadegawe agterstaan nie, terwyl julle wag op die openbaring van onse Here Jesus Christus,
“wat julle ook sal bevestig tot die einde toe, om in die DAG VAN ONSE HERE JESUS CHRISTUS, onberispelik te wees.
“God is getrou, deur WIE julle geroep is tot die gemeenskap met Sy Seun, Jesus Christus, onse Here.
“Maar ek vermaan julle broers, in die Naam van ons Here Jesus Christus om almal eenstemmig te wees, en dat daar geen skeuringe onder julle moet wees nie, maar dat julle verenig moet wees in dieselfde gesindheid, en in dieselfde mening.”

“to the Church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place, call upon the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours:
“Grace to you, and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
“I give thanks to my God always for you, because of the GRACE of God that was given you in Christ Jesus,
“that in every way you were enriched in Him, in all speech and all knowledge –
“even as the testimony about Christ was confirmed among you –
“so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ,
“Who Will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
“God is faithful, by Whom you were called into the fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.
“I appeal to you brothers, by the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there is no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgement.”
