“WE ARE NOT WAGING WAR ACCORDING TO THE FLESH:”

(2 Korinthiërs 10:1-10) 

“ONS VOER NIE DIE STRYD MET MENSLIKE WAPENS NIE:”

  1. “Ek, Paulus. Doen ‘n persoonlike beroep op julle – ek wat mos ‘gedwee’ is as ek by julle is, maar ‘manhaftig’ teenoor julle as ek van julle af weg is. In die Naam van Christus wat nederig en vriendelik is, vra ek julle: 
  2. “Moet my nie dwing om streng te wees as ek kom nie. Ek is seker ek kan my veroorloof om streng op te tree teenoor dié wat ons daarvan beskuldig dat ons uit menslike oorwegings handel. 
  3. “Natuurlik leef ons in ‘n menslike liggaam, maar ons voer nie die stryd met menslike wapens nie. 
  4. “Die wapens van ons stryd is nie die wapens van die mens nie, maar kragtige wapens van God wat vestings kan vernietig. Daarmee vernietig ons die redenasies, 
  5. “en elke hooghartige aanval wat teen die kennis van God gerig word. Ons neem elke gedagte gevange om dit aan Christus gehoorsaam te maak. 
  6. “Ons is ook gereed om met elke ongehoorsaamheid af te reken sodra julle eie gehoorsaamheid volkome is. 
  7. “Julle kyk net na een kant van die saak. As iemand dan so vas oortuig is dat hy aan Christus behoort, moet hy onthou: Ons behoort net soos hy ook aan Christus. 
  8. “Al het ek my miskien ‘n bietjie te veel beroem op daardie bevoegdhede wat die Here my gegee het, sal ek nie beskaamd daarvan afkom nie. Die Here het aan ons die bevoegdheid gegee om julle op te bou, nie om julle af te breek nie. 
  9. “Daarom wil ek nie die skyn wek dat ek julle met my briewe probeer bang maak nie. 
  10. “Daar word mos gesê: ‘Sy briewe is wel ernstig en streng, maar as hy self by ons is, is hy mak en beteken sy woorde niks.’”

  1. “I Paul, myself entreat you, by the meekness and gentleness of Christ- I who am humble when face to face with you, but bold toward you when I am away! – 
  2. “I beg of you that when I am present, I may not have to show boldness with such confidence as I count on showing against some who suspect us of walking according to the flesh.   
  3. “For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. 
  4. “For the weapons of our warware are not of the flesh, but have divine power to destroy strongholds. 
  5. “We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, 
  6. “being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete. 
  7. “Look at what is before your eyes. If anyone is confident that he is Christ’s, let him remind himself that just as he is Christ’s, so also are we. 
  8. “For even as I boast a little too much of our authority, which the Lord gave for building you up, and not for destroying you, I will not be ashamed. 
  9. “I do not want to appear to be frightening you with my letters. 
  10. “For they say: ‘His letters are weighty and strong, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech of no account.’”

GOD HET ‘N BLYMOEDIGE GEWER LIEF:

  1. “Dink daaraan: Wie karig saai, sal karig oes; en wie volop saai, sal volop oes. 
  2. “Elkeen moet gee soos hy in sy hart voorgeneem het, nie met teensin of uit dwang nie, want God het ‘n blymoedige gewer lief. 
  3. “En God is by magte om julle alles in oorvloed te skenk, sodat julle in alle opsigte altyd van alles genoeg kan hê, en volop kan bydra vir elke goeie werk. 
  4. “Daar staan ook geskrywe: ‘+Hy deel uit en gee aan die armes; hy bly altyd vrygewig’+
  5. “God wat saad verskaf om te saai, en brood om te eet, sal ook aan julle saad gee en dit laat groei, en julle vrygewigheid ‘n ryk oes laat oplewer. 
  6. “Hy maak julle altyd in alles ryk genoeg om by elke geleentheid vrygewig te kan wees. Deur ons bemiddeling het julle vrygewigheid tot gevolg dat God gedank word, 
  7. “want die bediening van hierdie hulpbetoon voorsien nie alleen in die behoeftes van die gelowiges inJudea nie, maar bring ook oorvloedige dankbaarheid teenoor God mee. 
  8. “Deur hierdie duidelike bewys van julle bereidheid om te dien, sal daar baie wees wat aan God eer toebring. Hulle sal Hom prys oor julle gehoorsaamheid aan die Evangelie van Christus wat julle bely, en oor julle opregte mededeelsaamheid teenoor hulle en teenoor al die ander. 
  9. “Hulle sal ook vir julle bid en met verlange aan julle dink,omdat die Genade van God oor julle só oorvloedig is. 
  10. “Ons dank God vir Sy onuitspreeklike gawe.”

GOD LOVES A CHEERFUL GIVER: 

  1. The point is this: Whoever sows sparingly, will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully, will also reap bountifully. 
  2. “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 
  3. “And God is able to make all Grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency of all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. 
  4. “As it is written: ‘+He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.’+
  5. “He Who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food, will supply and multiply your seed for sowing, and increase the harvest of your righteousness. 
  6. “You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. 
  7. “For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs  of the saints, but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God. 
  8. “By their approval of the service,  they will glorify God because of your submission that comes from your confession of the Gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others, 
  9. “while they long for you and pray for you, because of the surpassing Grace of God upon you. 
  10. “Thanks be to God for His inexpressible gift!”

(2 Korinthiërs 8:19-24) 

“JULLE YWER HET DIE MEESTE ANDER AANGESPOOR:”

  1. “Afgesien daarvan is die broer ook deur die Gemeentes gekies om met ons saam te reis, as ons die liefdeswerk uitvoer wat ons onderneem het. Ons doen dit tot eer van die Here en as teken van ons hulpvaardigheid. 
  2. “Op hierdie manier voorkom ons dat enigiemand ons dalk sou verdink in verband met so ‘n groot som geld wat ons moet wegbring. 
  3. “Ons is daarop gesteld om korrek op te tree, nie alleen voor die Here nie, maar ook voor die mense. 
  4. “Saam met hulle stuur ons ook ‘n ander broer. Ons het hom baie keer en op baie maniere op die proef gestel, en het gevind dat hy ywerig is om te help. Nou is hy nog yweriger omdat hy baie vertroue in julle het. 
  5. “Wat Titus betref, hy is my kollega en medewerker in julle belang. Wat ons broers betref, hulle is afgevaardigdes van die Gemeente, en ‘n eer vir Christus. 
  6. “Bewys aan hulle julle liefde, sodat al die Gemeentes dit kan sien en kan weet dat ons tereg op julle trots is. 

(2 Korinthiërs 9:1-5)

  1. “Eintlik is dit oorbodig dat ek aan julle skrywe oor die hulpverlening aan die gelowiges in Judea. 
  2. “Ek weet dat julle graag wil help, en ek het al by die Masedoniërs met lof oor julle gepraat. ‘Agaje,’ het ek gesê, ‘is al ‘n jaar lank reg om te help.’ Julle ywer het ook die meeste ander aangespoor. 
  3. “Nou stuur ek hierdie broers sodat ons woorde van lof oor julle in hierdie aangeleentheid, nie leë woorde sal wees nie. Ons wil hê dat, soos ons die ander vertel het, julle klaar reg sal wees om te help. 
  4. “Anders, as daar Masedoniërs saam met my kom, en hulle sien julle is nognie gereed nie, sal ons, ons skaam oor ons vertroue in julle – om nie eers te praat van julle eie skaamkry nie. 
  5. “Daarom het ek dit noodsaaklik geag om die broers aan te spoor om vooruit na julle toe te gaan. Hulle moet die dankoffer wat julle vroeër beloof het, vooraf in orde bring.”

“YOUR ZEAL HAS STIRRED UP MOST OF THEM:”

  1. “And not only that, but he has been appointed by the Churches to travel with us, as we carry out this act of Grace that is being ministered by us, for the Glory of the Lord Himself, and to show our goodwill. 
  2. “We take this course so that no one should blame us about this generous gift that is being administered by us. 
  3. “For we aim at what is honorable, not only in the Lord’s sight, but also in the sight of man. 
  4. “And with them we are sending our brother whom we have often tested and found earnest in many matters, but who is now more earnest than ever because of the great confidence in you. 
  5. “As for Titus, he is my partner and fellow-worker for your benefit. And for our brothers, they are messengers of the Churches, the Glory of Christ. 
  6. “So give proof before the Churches of your love and of our boasting about you to these men.  

(2 Corinthians 9:1-5)

  1. “It is superfluous for me to write to you about the ministry for the saints, 
  2. “for I know your readiness, of which I boast about you to the people of Macedonia, saying that: ‘Achaia has been ready since last year.’ And your zeal has stirred up most of them. 
  3. “But I am sending the brothers so that our boasting about you may not prove empty in this matter, so that you may be ready, as I said you would be.
  4. “Otherwise, if some Macedonians come with me and find that you are not ready, we would be humiliated – to say nothing of you – for being so confident.
  5. “So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to go ahead to you and arrange in advance for the gift you have promised, so that it may be ready, as a willing gift, not as an exaction.”
