THE CROWD SPREAD THEIR CLOAKS ON THE ROAD:

(Matthéüs 21:1-9)

HULLE HET HULLE BO-KLERE OP DIE PAD VOOR JESUS OOPGEGOOI:

1. Toe Jerusalem begin nader kom, het Jesus en Sy dissipels die dorpie Betfage, geleë teen die Olyfberg, bereik. Hy het twee dissipels vooruit gestuur,

2. met die opdrag; “Gaan na die dorpie hier reg voor julle, en julle sal ‘n donkie daar vasgemaak sien staan met ‘n vul by haar. Maak hulle los en bring hulle hier vir My.

3. “As iemand protesteer, sê dan: ‘Die Here het hulle nodig. Hy sal hulle nou-nou terugstuur.’”

4. Dit het gebeur om die profesie te laat vervul:

5. “‘Sê vir die volk van Israel: ‘Kyk, julle Koning kom na julle toe. Hy is saggeaard en Hy ry op ‘n donkie, ja, op die vul van ‘n pakdier.’”

6. Die twee dissipels het toe gegaan, en gemaak soos Jesus hulle beveel het.

7. Hulle het die donkie en haar vul gebring, hulle bo-klere op hulle gesit, en Jesus het op die donkie gaan sit.

8. Die grootste deel van die skare het hulle bo-klere op die pad voor Jesus oopgegooi, en ander het takke van die bome afgekap, en oor die pad uitgesprei.

9. Met Jesus in die middel van die optog, het die skare uitgeroep: ‘Prys God vir die Seun van Dawid! Geseënd is die Een wat kom in die Here se Naam! Prys God in die Hoogste Hemel!’

THE CROWD SPREAD THEIR CLOAKS ON THE ROAD:

1. When they drew near to Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, to the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples,

3. saying to them: “Go into the village in front of you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Untie them and bring them to Me.”

4. “If anyone says something to you, you shall say: ‘The Lord needs them, but He will return them again’ and he will send them at once.”

5. This took place to fulfill what was spoken by the Prophet, saying:

6. “‘Say to the daughter of Zion: Behold, your King is coming to you, humble, and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a beast of burden.’”

7. The disciples went and did as Jesus Had directed them.

8. They brought the donkey and the colt, and put on them their cloaks, and He sat on them.

9. Most of the crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees, and spread them on the road. And the crowds that went before Him, and that followed Him, were shouting: ‘Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He Who comes in the Name of the Lord. Hosanna in the Highest!’

(Matthéüs 20:25-34)

HULLE KON DADELIK SIEN:

25. Jesus roep hulle toe bymekaar en sê: “Julle weet in hierdie wêreld tiranniseer die maghebbers die nasies, en die magtiges domineer hulle.

26. “Maar onder julle moet dit heeltemal anders wees. Wie onder julle ‘n leier wil wees, behoort julle dienskneg te wees.

27. “En wie die eerste onder julle wil wees, moet julle slaaf wees.

28. “Net so het Ek, die Seun van die mens, nie gekom om gedien te word nie, maar om diens te lewer, en boonop My lewe te gee as ‘n losprys vir baie mense.”

29. Toe Jesus en die dissipels uit Jerigo gaan, het baie mense agter Hom aangekom.

30. Twee blindes wat langs die pad gesit het, het gehoor dat Jesus daarlangs verbygaan. Hulle roep toe aanhoudend: ‘Here, Seun van Dawid, ontferm U tog oor ons!’

31. Die skare het hulle aangespreek en gesê hulle moet stilbly, maar hulle het nog harder geroep: ‘Here, Seun van Dawid, ontferm U tog oor ons!’

32. Jesus het gaan staan en hulle laat roep. “Wat wil julle hê moet Ek vir julle doen?” Vra Hy hulle toe.

33. Hulle het geantwoord ‘Here, ons wil sien!’

34. Daarop het Jesus hulle innig jammer gekry, en hulle oë aangeraak. Dadelik kon hulle sien, en hulle het agter Hom aangegaan.

IMMEDIATELY THEY RECOVERED THEIR SIGHT:

25. But Jesus called them to Him and said: “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.

26. “It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you, must be your servant,

27. “and whoever would be first among you, must be your slave,

28. “even as the Son of man came, not to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”

29. And as they went out of Jericho, a great crowd followed Him.

30. And behold, there were two blind men sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was passing by, they cried out: ‘Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!’

31. The crowd rebuked them, telling them to be silent, but they cried out all the more: ‘Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!’

32. And stopping, Jesus called them and said: “What do you want Me to do for you?”

33. They said to Him: ‘Lord, let our eyes be opened!’

34. And Jesus in pity, touched their eyes, and immediately they recovered their sight, and followed Him.
