“I REFUSE TO BE A JUDGE OF THESE THINGS:”

Sondag 5 Oktober 2025.

PÊREL VIR ELKE DAG:

(Handelinge 18:9-17)

“IN SULKE SAKE WIL EK NIE REGTER WEES NIE:”

  2. ‘+Want Ek is by jou.
  6. Net toe Paulus homself wou begin verdedig, sê Gallio vir die Jode: “As dit oor ‘n onreg of ‘n ernstige misdaad gegaan het Jode, sou ek julle klag aangehoor het,

Sunday 5 October 2025.

PEARL FOR EACH DAY:

(Acts 18:9-17)

“I REFUSE TO BE A JUDGE OF THESE THINGS:”

  1. The Lord said to Paul one night in a vision: ‘+Do not be afraid, but go on speaking and do not be silent,
  2. ‘+for I Am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, for I Have many in this city who are My people.’+
  3. And he stayed a year and six months, teaching the Word of God among them.
  4. When Gallio was proconsul of Achaia the Jews made a united attack on Paul and brought him before the tribunal,
  5. saing: ‘This man is persuading people to worship God contrary to the Law.’
  6. But when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews: “If it were a matter of wrongdoing or vicious crime, o Jews, I would have reason to accept your complaint.
  7. “But since it is a matter of questions about words and names and your own law, see to it yourselves. I refuse to be a judge of these things.”
  8. And he drove them from the tribunal.
  9. And they all seized Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him in front of the tribunal. But Gallio paid no attention to any of this.

“YOUR BLOOD IS UPON YOUR OWN HEADS:”

Saterdag 4 Oktober 2025.

PÊREL VIR ELKE DAG:

(Handelinge 18:1-8)

HY HET VIR HULLE GESÊ: “JULLE BLOED IS OP JULLE EIE KOPPE:”

  3. Hy het by hulle ingetrek en saam met hulle gewerk, want hulle was tentmakers net soos hy.
Ek is onskuldig. Van nou af spits ek my toe op die nie-Jode.”

PEARL FOR EACH DAY:

(Acts 18:1-8)

Saturday 4 October 2025.

HE SAID TO THEM: “YOUR BLOOD IS UPON YOUR OWN HEADS:”

  1. After this Paul departed from Athens and went to Corinth.
  2. There he met a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, recently arrived from Italy with Priscilla his wife, due to the fact that Claudius had issued an edict that all the Jews were to leave Rome. And Paul went to see them,
  3. and because he was of the same occupation, he stayed with them; for they worked together, as they were tentmakers by trade.
  4. But he discussed and argued in the synagogue every Sabbath and won both Jews and Greeks.
  5. By the time Timothy and Silas arrived from Macedonia, Paul was completely engrossed with preaching, earnestly arguing and testifying to the Jews that Jesus is the Christ.
  6. But since they kept opposing and abusing and reviling him, he shook out his clothing against them and said to them: “Your blood is upon your own heads! I am innocent of it. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.”
  7. He then left there and went to the house of a man named Titus Justice, who worshiped God and whose house was next door to the synagogue.
  8. But Crispus, the leader of the synagogue, believed that Jesus is the Messiah and acknowledged Him with joyful trust as Saviour and Lord, together with his entire household; and many of the Corinthians who listened to Paul also believed and were baptized.

  3. “because He Has fixed a day on which He Will judge the world in righteousness, by a Man Whom He Has appointed; and of this He Has given assurance to all, by raising Him from the dead.”
  4. When they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked, but others said: ‘We will hear you again about this.’
  5. So Paul went out from their midst.
  6. But some men joined him and believed, among whom also were Dionysius the Areopagite and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.

IN HIM WE LIVE AND MOVE AND HAVE OUR BEING:

Donderdag 2 Oktober 2025.

PÊREL VIR ELKE DAG:

(Handelinge 17:18-28)

Thursday 2 October  .

PEARL FOR EACH DAY:

(Acts 17:18-28)

IN HIM WE LIVE AND MOVE AND HAVE OUR BEING:

  1. Some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers also conversed with him. And some said: ‘What does this babbler wish to say?’ Others said: ‘He seems to be a preacher of foreign divinities,’  because Paul was preaching Jesus and the resurrection.
  2. And they took him and brought him to the Areopagus, saying: ‘May we know what this new teaching is, that you are presenting?
  3. ‘For you bring some strange things to our ears. We wish to know therefore what these things mean.’
  4. (All the Athenians and the foreigners who had lived there, would spend their time in nothing, except telling or hearing something new.)
  5. So Paul, standing in the midst of the Areopagus said: “Men of Athens, I perceive that in every way you are very religious.
  6. “For as I passed along and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription: ‘To the unknown God.’ What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you.
  7. “The God Who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man,
  8. “nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything.
  9. “And He made from one man every nation of mankind, to live on all the face of the earth, having determined alotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place,
  10.  “that they should seek God and perhaps feel their way toward Him and find Him. Yet He is actually not far from each of us,
  11. “for: ‘In Him we live and move and have our being.’ As even some of your own poets have said: ‘For we are indeed His offspring.’

THEY RECEIVED THE WORD IN ALL EAGERNESS:

Woensdag 1 Oktober 2025.

PÊREL VIR ELKE DAG:

(Handelinge 17:10-17)

HULLE HET MET GROOT BELANGSTELLING NA PAULUS GELUISTER:

  2. DIe mense daar was ontvankliker as dié in Tessalonika.

Wednesday 1 October 2025.

PEARL FOR EACH DAY:

(Acts 17:10-17)

THEY RECEIVED THE WORD IN ALL EAGERNESS:

  1. The brothers immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea. And when they arrived, they went into the Jewish synagogue.
  2. These Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica. They received the Word in all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.
  3. Many of them therefore believed, with not a few Greek women of high standing, as well as men.
  4. But when the Jews from Thessalonica learned that the Word of God was proclaimed by Paul at Berea also, they came there too, agitating and stirring up the crowds.
  5. Then the brothers immediately sent Paul off on his way to the sea. But Silas and Timothy remained there.
  6. Those who conducted Paul brought him as far as Athens. And after receiving a command for Silas and Timothy to come to him as soon as possible, they departed.
  7. While Paul was waiting for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him, as he saw that the city was full of idols.
  8. So he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and the devout persons, and in the market place every day, with those who happened to be there.

“THIS JESUS WHOM I PROCLAIM TO YOU IS THE CHRIST:”

Dinsdag 30 September 2025.

PÊREL VIR ELKE DAG:

(Handelinge 17:1-9)

“HIERDIE JESUS WAT EK AAN JULLE VERKONDIG, HY IS DIE CHRISTUS:”

  5. Die Jode was egter jaloers daaroor.

PEARL FOR EACH DAY:

(Acts 17:1-9)

“THIS JESUS WHOM I PROCLAIM TO YOU, IS THE CHRIST:”

  1. When they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a synagogue of the Jews.
  2. And Paul went in, as was his custom, and on three Sabbath days, he reasoned with them from the Scriptures,
  3. explaining and proving that it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead. Saying: “This Jesus Whom I proclaim to you, is the Christ.”
  4. And some of them were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas as did a great many of the devout Greeks, and not a few of the leading women.
  5. But the Jews were jealous, and taking some wicked men from the rabble, they formed a mob, set the city in an uproar, and attacked the house of Jason, seeking to bring Paul and Silas out to the crowd.
  6. And when they could not find them, they dragged Jason and some of the brothers before the city authorities, shouting: ‘These men who have turned the world upside down, have come here also.
  7.   ‘And Jason has received them in his house and they are all acting against the decrees of Caesar, saying there is another king, Jesus.’
  8. The city authorities and the people were disturbed when they heard these things.
  9. And when they had taken money as security from Jason and the rest, they let them go.
